Lost Trail Cabins and Creede Are Spectacular!

Good High Country Fish!

I have visited Colorado many times before with family and friends for years. Aspen, Denver, Keystone, Crested Butte, Beaver Creek, Copper Moutain, Telluride, and others have always made me eager to come back. However, after visiting Creede, I have decided I want to come back here, and here only! Not only is Creede truly “the last great place on Earth,” it is also home to Cabins at Lost Trail Ranch. I was fortunate enough to get to spend a week in paradise last July and I will do my best to try and return every year in the future. I have never been to a place that is more remote, quiet, breathtaking, and peaceful in all of my life. As a college student, I spend a good amount of time looking at a computer screen and stressed about essays and exams. Lost Trail Ranch was the perfect place for me to relax. The fly fishing is incredible, hiking is surreal, and to top it off, the scenery is magnificent. We gazed at wildlife almost everywhere we went! The caretakers at Lost Trail Ranch are also some of the most genuine and thoughtful people I have had the pleasure of knowing. Do yourself, and your family a favor and visit The Cabins at Lost Trail Ranch as soon as you can! You won’t regret visiting the last great place!

Our family has been going to the Creede area for over 50 years. My grandparents used to volunteer as campground hosts with the Forest Service and would take my sister and I there every summer in the 70’s and 80’s. We would often have extended family reunions in Creede…so many wonderful memories. Back in the day, you could rent horses for the entire day at the Reservoir dam. Those days are long gone, but MJ and Dick at Lost Trail/Frazier Outfitters treated us to a wonderful day of riding last week (July 3rd). My sister and I have rented horses through Lost Trail in years past, but I want to tell you…this most recent experience with MJ and Dick was very, very special. They took 8 of us in a group for a trail ride, and it did not feel at all like a typical “rental experience.” MJ went out of her way to accommodate us and within minutes had us feeling like part of her family and her and Dick as a part of ours. They were kind enough to take the littlest of our group (ages 3 and 5) around on Little Joe so they could experience the joy of horseback riding for the first time. Then our group departed with MJ (not the littlest ones) on one of the most spectacular days of riding I have ever had. Our riders ranged in age from 16 to 71 and MJ and Dick made sure to pick the right horses for riders of all abilities. I cannot thank them enough for their hospitality during our time together. Truly a perfect day!! Words cannot express the beauty of the scenery we encountered. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! We will definitely be back…my sister already has been back, two days later. Thank you MJ and Dick!
